Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
BTPT is an out-of-network practice for all insurance providers.
This model allows your physical therapist to design a care plan based on what your body actually needs, not what an insurance company restricts. Your plan is built around your goals, your movement patterns, and the progression required to create lasting results.
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement for physical therapy services, and our team is happy to guide you through that process. We also accept both FSA and HSA cards for all sessions and care packages.
What is your pricing structure?
Your physical therapist will begin by creating a personalized care plan based on your assessment, goals, and how your body is responding to treatment. This plan outlines the recommended frequency, progression, and overall structure of your care.
While individual sessions are available, most patients choose a care package that aligns with their full treatment plan. Packages provide the consistency needed for real progress and are offered at a reduced rate compared to single visits. FSA and HSA funds can be used for all packages and sessions.
What is plan-based care and why does BTPT recommend it?
At BTPT we structure your care around a plan that defines your treatment goals, the sequence of progressions, and a timeline that supports real change. Studies show that guided, progressive care leads to better long-term outcomes than disconnected visits.
Why are packages recommended?
Our care packages are built to match plan-based care. They provide the structure and consistency your body needs to adapt, strengthen, and become more resilient. Buying a package ensures your therapist can guide your recovery with continuity and intentional progression.
Can I use FSA or HSA to buy packages?
Yes. FSA and HSA cards are accepted for all BTPT care packages and sessions.

At Buffer Trenouth Physical Therapy and Wellness, we help people in Cambridge, Jamaica Plain, and throughout Greater Boston move freely, get out of pain, and stay that way. We're a women-owned, out-of-network practice built on the belief that real recovery starts with understanding the whole person, not just the site of pain. Every session is a full hour, one-on-one with an experienced clinician who looks at your complete movement picture, your history, and your goals before building a care plan that actually fits your life.
We see patients for a wide range of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain, knee pain, chronic pain, and nerve pain, and more specialized presentations like vestibular rehabilitation for BPPV and dizziness, hypermobility spectrum disorder, and performing arts physical therapy for dancers, musicians, and circus artists. We also offer dry needling in Cambridge, MA as a core part of our hands-on approach, pre and postpartum physical therapy for every stage of the perinatal journey, gender-affirming physical therapy, and ergonomics support for desk workers navigating posture-related strain. For patients who need care at home, mobile and home visit PT is available across Greater Boston.
Our sessions combine manual therapy, dry needling, cupping, visceral manipulation, breathwork, and neuromuscular re-education with progressive therapeutic exercise and education, so you understand what's actually causing your symptoms and how to keep them from coming back. No referral is needed to start, and a free 15-minute discovery call lets you ask questions and confirm we're the right fit before committing to anything.
If you're ready to stop managing pain and start resolving it, we'd love to hear your story.
